Volkswagen Introduces the All-New 2022 SUV Coupe ID.5 GTX At The IAA

Volkswagen is preparing to unveil its latest electric vehicle to join the ID.Family, the all-new elegant 2022 ID.5 GTX will start making its way towards the production lines. The ID.5 GTX is set to blend elegant athleticism and efficiency, the German automaker was previewing the ID.5 GTX with several teasers before its upcoming reveal at the Munich auto show in early September 2021. The teasers allowed interested buyers to catch a view of its fluid lines, short overhangs, and big wheels highlighting its strong athletic character. The success of the 2021 Volkswagen ID.4 in the first half of the year has been outstanding, selling just over 6,000 units across the world. Volkswagen says the ID.5 GTX will be the first electric SUV “coupe” on the market, closely related to the ID.4 with a similar front end but with a sleeker roofline in the rear. Unfortunately, Volkswagen has not revealed any details about the interior.
The ID.5 will carry the GTX suffix indicating that the vehicle is performance-focused, GTX represents the top-of-the-line sports models in the electric ID.Family , as the GTI represents for the 2021 Volkswagen Golf GTI in the conventional engine segment. Volkswagen has revealed that the ID.5 GTX will have an electric motor on each axle providing all-wheel drive and estimating over 300 miles range. The standard 2022 Volkswagen ID.5 will come with three different motor options but all variants come with the same 77 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. The GTX trim has already been seen on the ID.4 in the European market, anticipating fans in the United States can only hope we get our GTX trims lines. For now, the U.S. will have the AWD models which will hold close performance-wise to the GTX.
The ID.5 GTX comes equipped with IQ.Light LED Matrix headlights, which generate an intelligently controlled high beam. The light strip that tapers towards the Volkswagen logo has been combined with three powerful illuminated honeycomb elements on both the driver and passenger sides. The SUV coupe conveys an athletic character while stationary, the flat sloping A-pillars potioned right near the front give the roofline an elegant flow. At the rear of the ID.5 GTX Volkswagen includes a complete 3D design for its brake lights like that of the 2023 Volkswagen ID.6. Volkswagen has huge plans for the next few years while working towards its goal of lowering carbon emissions and pushing quicker into an electric era.
