Volkswagen and the US Soccer Women’s National Team join forces to donate toys and games to children’s hospitals in the United States in order raise awareness and honor Childhood Cancer Month. Volkswagen demonstrates Volkswagen’s interest in helping the community and helping children in need. The Jessie Rees Foundation: Never Ever Give Up (NEGU) receives help from the US women’s soccer players to distribute JoyJars to children battling cancer. JoyJars are 64 oz jars filled to the brim with age-appropriate toys and games, JoyJars are exclusive NEGU items, each jar distributed brings a smile and happiness.
Volkswagen mobilized the U.S. women’s soccer team in early September to organize 300 JoyJars for NEGU while in Kansas City for a soccer match against Nigeria, each member of the women’s national team distributed the jars to children with cancer at the University of Kansas Health System. Volkswagen plays a big part in giving back to the community and environment. The captain of the women’s national football team, Becky Sauerbrunn, was in charge of distributing a large portion of the packaged and complete JoyJars to the children who are currently undergoing medical treatment, using the Volkswagen ID.4 model. The ID.4 provides buyers with a fully-electric SUV at an affordable price.
“We were thrilled to partner with Volkswagen and the USWNT to send JoyJars to children battling cancer – thanks to your compassion, children battling cancer will smile, feel loved, and be encouraged to never give up!” announced Erik Rees, co-founder of the Jessie Rees: Never Ever Give Up Foundation.
More than 400k children suffer from cancer and each one is fighting a great battle to survive this serious disease, NEGU encourages people to participate and get involved in different organizations around the world. Volkswagen and Sauerbrunn surprised Clara Bax, a high school student and wrestler with tickets to the U.S. Women’s National Team game. In which the teenager along with her family was able to enjoy a wonderful tour of the locker room and greet members of the women’s national team.
