In the United States, Volkswagen provides two fully electric models, which are intended for very different purposes. One of these is a small electric SUV for use in commuting and running errands, while the other is an electric van with a long wheelbase for transporting people and equipment. Two Electric Models, Two Different Missions

The ID.4 can be rapidly charged with direct current at up to 175 kilowatts and will go from 10 to 80 percent in about 30 minutes; the ID. Buzz achieves the same thing in just under half an hour. Both vehicles are supplied with an adapter enabling access to Tesla Superchargers, which greatly increases the range of public charging options.

Most owners don’t usually need fast charging since a Level 2 home charger can recharge the battery overnight, and therefore the range differences are mainly important for road trips.

The gap in terms of range is almost 60 miles at the higher end; although this is important for long highway journeys, it has little relevance for daily commutes, which is the reason why the Volkswagen EVs are clearly divided according to their intended use.
