Volkswagen’s Premiere of the ID.3 GTX FIRE + ICE at the ID.Meeting

Volkswagen’s Head of Design, Andreas Mindt, said, “We are highlighting how extremely emotional our sporty top model is with the ID.3 GTX FIRE+ICE. Our design team thoroughly enjoyed reimagining and expanding upon the classic 90s style. Technical Development personnel came up with the vehicle’s concept. Volkswagen and BOGNER collaborated on the design of the Golf Mk2 Fire and Ice. “BOGNER’s modern interpretation of the iconic Golf Fire and Ice is our performance brand FIRE+ICE combined with the sporty ID.3 GTX,” says Tom Becker, Director of BOGNER FIRE+ICE. We were able to incorporate a lot of our original components and extras into the car’s interior, which makes it unique.
The unique 3-layer paint finish with glass bead look on the ID.3 GTX FIRE+ICE makes it stand out above the rest. The Electric Violet pearl effect hue, which is a recreation of the Golf Mk2 Fire and Ice exterior paint, was created especially for this specific model. The three coats of paint have unique glass beads added to the dark blue base coat, which gives it an amazing character and unique color impact. The color shifts from dark blue to violet or even black depending on the angle of the light. The striking Flaming Red anodized paint gives a sporty emphasis to the roof frame strip. Foiling featuring the geometric FIRE+ICE design in translucent matt dominates the vehicle’s sides. The 21-inch rims, which highlight the dynamic appearance with a blue anodized paint finish with a glossy twist, are another unique element. The roof edge spoiler and B-pillar are adorned with the original FIRE+ICE logo from the 1990s.
There are two colors used in the interior, the driver’s side and rear seat are primarily accented with the color Flaming Red for “FIRE,” while the passenger side’s seats and interior are distinguished by icy blue (or “ICE”) design features. The Play/Pause motif familiar from the ID family has been replaced with a unique “FIRE+ICE” pattern on the stainless steel accelerator pedals. Step on the “ICE” emblem to brake; use the “FIRE” emblem to accelerate. A laser-engraved “FIRE+ICE” design has also been added to the floor mats and the upper portion of the instrument panel for customization. Many hues, materials, and components were used, all of which were influenced by the BOGNER FIRE+ICE collections. The famous B-zippers from the latest FIRE+ICE down jackets are reflected in the quilted style of the seats. The original FIRE+ICE fabric from the 1990s shows through if you open them on the seats. The webbing behind the front seats was also taken from bags in the FIRE+ICE series.
The Volkswagen ID.3 GTX Performance electric motor, which has a maximum torque of 545 Nm and an output of 240 kW (326 PS), is the most potent Volkswagen electric motor available for the FIRE+ICE variant. It takes an electric motor only 5-7 seconds to reach 60 mph. The GTX-specific chassis is likewise adapted to the extremely high performance of the drive system. It has stronger stabilizers and Sport DCC adaptive chassis control. A 79 kWh lithium-ion battery (net) provides the electricity, and it can be charged at DC fast-charging stations with up to 185 kW. The battery may be recharged from 10 to 80 percent with this power in around 26 minutes.
Volkswagen debuted a special edition of the Golf Mk2 in 1990 that was both sporty and cozy with the “Fire and Ice” variant. Willy Bogner, a filmmaker and fashion designer, worked with us to create its design. The Golf Fire and Ice, particularly the GTI variant, swiftly gained in value due to its ostentatious design (alloy wheels, front spoiler, body extensions, and a dark violet pearl effect paint finish) and potent engine (between 90 and 160 PS). Unexpectedly, it became successful. 16,700 units were sold in total. Just 10,000 units were intended at first.
