Volkswagen Reveals The All-New Electric XTREME ID Vehicle

The new XTREME concept vehicle is Volkswagen’s new all-electric ID with an extremely emotional, adventurous, and different character. This large vehicle has a high-performance capability and a versatile Volkswagen Modular Electric Drive Matrix (MEB). In addition, the new Volkswagen Concept Vehicle has a performance unit on its rear axle and several adjustments to the control unit software resulting in the ID. The great capabilities that this off-road XTREME Concept Vehicle possesses help develop the vehicle’s 285 kW/387Ps power system, one of which is its all-electric drive. Thanks to the power development provided by the vehicle’s all-wheel drive its performance increases by 30% compared to the ID.4 GTX.

The new Volkswagen XTREME concept vehicle was designed and assembled in the brand’s engineering department by the team headed by Andreas Reckewerth. With the ID. XTREME off-road customers can get several extravagant things such as an extra portion of passion, a pinch of enthusiasm, and a very well-developed test vehicle with quite successful test results. The team led by Andreas Reckewerth has managed to increase the power output of the ID. XTREME from 65 kW to a total of 285 kW employing a performance transmission on the rear axle and have succeeded in adjusting the software of the transmission control unit to increase the vehicle’s power by 30%.
The new Volkswagen ID. XTREME from Volkswagen has a much higher rally undercarriage of approximately 30 mm with track plates measuring 20 mm wide. Thanks to this undercarriage the Volkswagen ID is much more stable, agile, and safe even on the roughest terrain. In addition, the 18-inch wheels with all-terrain tires are covered by 3D-printed wheel housing extensions that widen the vehicle’s wings by 50 mm and add even more confidence to the ID’s all-terrain appearance. XTREME. The luggage rack inside the ID. XTREME is honeycomb-shaped and has an extremely high load capacity, it’s LED light strip located in the front of the roof rack fulfills the purpose of illuminating the surroundings of the ID. XTREME even in the deepest of nights allowing the driver to find his way even in the most difficult and inhospitable terrain.
Volkswagen’s XTREME concept vehicle also has an open-air character on paved roads thanks to powerful internally darkened headlights at the front and orange-painted lens frames. In addition, the panoramic roof of the ID allows even more light to enter the interior of the vehicle. Another feature that stands out on the exterior of the vehicle is the color which is matte black. The contrast gives the effect of dust on the surfaces of the light color of the XTREME. The interior of the vehicle looks quite elegant but robust at the same time the upholstery is made with gray microfiber, the sports seats in the front are printed with the XTREME logo in the upper area, while all the seams that decorate the seats are an orange color that characterizes the Volkswagen vehicle, its rear seats. Inside the cabin of the XTREME can also be seen a fixed center console with armrests giving greater comfort to the driver, and a boot screen designed especially for the ID. XTREME enhances the driver’s adventurous mood and an additional Angle display. The ID XTREME was presented in September 2022 at the ID.treffen event in Locarno. This major event located at Lake Maggiore in Switzerland is closer to becoming the electric mobility counterpart of Volkswagen’s GTI Treffen event.
