Volkswagen of America Inc. has revealed a number of Taos upgrades that enhance this reasonably priced, entertaining SUV’s mobility and efficiency with new styling, improved electronics, and more power. The curb appeal of this neatly packaged compact sport-utility vehicle is further enhanced by new wheel designs, revised exterior appearance, and an increased paint option. Additionally, improved in-car technology and powertrain refinements add to the vehicle’s appeal.Â
The external changes are first, with a more expressive front end now featured. A new grille with an optional light bar, standard LED projector headlights with available AFS, and a redesigned bumper are among the changes. Connected taillights and an illuminated Volkswagen emblem at the back give the 2025 Taos a unique, premium look. The color scheme is improved with the addition of three new paint colors: Monument Gray, Bright Moss Green, and Monterey Blue Pearl. New 17-inch aluminum alloy wheels for front-wheel drive S models, 18-inch alloy wheels for front-wheel drive SE models, and 19-inch wheels for SEL are among the new wheel options available. With its black roof, unique trim, and 18-inch or 19-inch wheels for front-wheel drive cars and 4Motion® all-wheel drive models, respectively, the SE Black trim was first presented for 2024.
The 2025 Taos has new materials and colors within the interior, as well as a redesigned dashboard. All models come with an 8-inch floating infotainment display as standard equipment, while SE trim levels up include touch control for the Climatronic® HVAC system. Taos S has two-tone black and gray fabric upholstery; SE and SE Black variants are outfitted with CloudTex and cloth materials, with SE in two distinct two-tone options and SE Black in, of course, all black. New acoustic dampening treatments also aid in reducing internal noise. Leather seats are standard on SEL versions; they come in two-tone black and gray or a new, eye-catching dark blue color.
The 2025 Taos boasts an upgraded 1.5-liter EA211 turbocharged four-cylinder TSI® engine under its hood. Redesigned fuel injectors and piston rings, an enlarged intercooler, a redesigned turbo housing, and a new gasoline particulate filter are among the hardware modifications. These modifications increase the power plant’s output from 158 horsepower in the outgoing model to 174 horsepower. For 4Motion models, the seven-speed DSG® dual-clutch automatic transmission is swapped out for an eight-speed automatic to improve driveability even more.
All trim levels of the 2025 Taos come equipped with VW’s advanced array of IQ.DRIVE® driving assistance functions. These consist of the following: Active Blind Spot Monitor, Rear Traffic Alert, Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) Stop and Go, Lane Assist (Lane Keeping System), Travel Assist (semi-automated driving assistance), Front Assist (Forward Collision Warning and Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Monitoring), and Emergency Assist (semi-automated vehicle assistance in a medical emergency). Park Distance Control, which helps provide direction when parking or in tight situations, is now available in both front and back. By year’s end, the updated 2025 Taos will be available in US dealerships and pricing details will be disclosed closer to debut.
