Volkswagen Plans Update for the ID.4 and ID.5

Volkswagen has announced a new upgrade for the Volkswagen ID.4 and ID.5, adding a completely new operating concept that will create a more efficient drive. The all-new electric drive for the two electric vehicles will develop up to 60 kW and ranges of up to 350 miles range. Volkswagen has launched pre-sales for the enhanced ID.5 and ID.4, the two models will be offered with the new generation infotainment system and software. The high-efficiency drive was first introduced on the large ID.7, and offers more power and will reduce energy consumption. One of the best key points of the new enhanced models is the pricing, the automaker will offer the optimized models at the same base price as its predecessors.

In addition, there are extensive assistance systems that leave nothing to be desired. The further improved ID.4 and ID.5 models are at the top of the segment with their new technologies and the acknowledged balance of driving, comfort and spaciousness.” said Imelda Labbé, Member of the Volkswagen Brand Board of Management with responsibility for Sales, Marketing and Aftersales.

The enhancements to both vehicles are significant, the cockpit landscape has received a refresh. Volkswagen has set out to make all the functions much faster with the latest technology, the new screen has also been increased to 12.9-inches. The new 12.9-inch infotainment screen is now standard on all trims and will impress buyers with a completely new menu structure. Air conditioning touch sliders and volume control are now illuminated and a new operating logic for the multifunction steering wheel. Volkswagen’s new IDA voice assist now responds perfectly to voice commands and has new optional functions including sports events status, stock market prices, and cloud-based weather information.

Most importantly the ID.4 and ID.5 models with the 77 kWh battery is the high-efficiency drive. This is all due to the new electric drive motor on the rear axle and new -generation battery, able to increase power while reducing energy consumption. A 210 kW electric drive motor is now used in the rear-wheel-drive models ID.Pro and ID.5 Pro and offers 60 kW more power than the previous models. It doesn’t stop there, the ID.4 and ID.5 model’s battery is pre-conditioned to help charge quicker for long journeys with multiple charging stops. Planning to move to an electric vehicle?
