The Volkswagen Group has delivered 45% more all-electric vehicles in the first 9 months, over 531,500 units have been delivered globally. In comparison to the previous year only 336,600 units were delivered in the same time frame. Volkswagen has been focused on expanding its electric vehicles across the globe, the ID.Family is the brand’s fully electric vehicles and continues to rise in demand. The European market has taken the Volkswagen group’s electrification strategy and increased sales by 61% to a total of 341,100 BEVs and the USA market up by 74% with 50,300 BEVs and the China market up by 4% with 117,100 units.
“We showed a good overall performance in our all-electric deliveries with a global increase of 45 percent in the first nine months. Despite the current general reluctance in the European market to buy battery-powered vehicles, we gained market share and remained market leader in this segment. However, our order intake is below our ambitious targets due to the lower than expected overall market trend.” said Hildegard Wortmann, member of the Group’s Extended Executive Committee for Sales
In total 64 percent of The Volkswagen Group’s BEV deliveries went to the European region, China with 22 percent, USA with 10 percent, and 4 percent to other markets around the globe. The Volkswagen Group’s most successful vehicles were the ID.4, ID.5, ID.3. Joining these Volkswagen models also included the Audi Q4 e-tron, SKODA Enyaq iV, CUPRA Born, and Audi Q8 e-tron. These vehicles have made a major impact on various markets and continue to add new features and higher performance. Many of these models made an impact but the Volkswagen ID.4 has made the outline for future electric vehicles.
The Volkswagen ID.4 was one of the first electric vehicles to arrive in the US market, currently rising in sales tremendously. The brand has just added new features and software programs that will offer a smoother and more efficient ride. A new 77.0-kWh battery pack will provide extended ranges and help minimize charging times. The fully-electric SUV top models generate a powerful 330 horsepower and offer up to 275 miles range per charge. The Volkswagen Group electric vehicle deliveries will continue to rise as more of the ID.Family models are released and roll into dealerships.
