Volkswagen Celebrates the Jetta GLI with a 40th Anniversary Edition

Volkswagen is celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Jetta GLI model by announcing the start of production of the limited 40th-anniversary edition of the 2024 Jetta GLI. The special edition will only be available in North America. The Volkswagen Jetta GLI has left a legacy that can never be erased that started when it made its grand debut in 1984. The Jetta GLI has often been known as the “GTI with a trunk”. The GLI stands out for its accessible performance that combines driving diversity, usability, and efficiency, proving that in these 40 years of success. Volkswagen has succeeded in fulfilling the mission to offer an affordable German sedan that offers top of the line performance and safety features. The 40th Anniversary Edition of the 2024 Jetta GLI will have a limited production run of 1984 units in the United States. This number is not just a coincidence, it refers to the year in which GLI made its first appearance in the American market.
The great legacy that the GLI has held strong over the years, the 40th Anniversary Edition of the 2024 Jetta GLI will continue to keep that legacy strong. The 40th Anniversary Edition comes equipped with a 2.0-liter turbocharged EA888 engine that generates up to 228 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. The sedan can also be equipped with a six-speed manual transmission or a seven-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission. In addition, the limited-edition sedan will be equipped with key performance features found on the sporty Jetta, including larger brakes, a Sport HMI performance monitor, and much more.
The exterior and interior design of the 40th Anniversary Edition received a special touch that highlights its exclusivity. The sedan will be available in three colors including Pure Grey, Pure White, and Rising Blue. The automaker also adds blacked-out accents running from the front to the rear of the vehicle, creating a perfect contrast to the GLI’s signature red trim. The vehicle’s 18-inch wheels feature a sleek black ten-spoke design that blends perfectly with a black grille, mirror caps, door handles, and spoiler to give the vehicle a cleaner design. The interior design features several 40th anniversary-inspired extras as in the seats, which have been made exclusively for this limited-edition version that will be one of a kind. The interior of the vehicle also features decal holders engraved with the GLI logo on one side and the number 1984 on the other.
