Volkswagen Financial Services are beginning to electrify the Siemens AG fleet. The company’s fleet will add around 1,000 leased Volkswagen ID.4 vehicles. Volkswagen will gradually supplement the vehicles as part of a electrification and sustainability plan made by Siemens. Siemens is one of the longest established and largest industrial companies in Germany. The industrial company has set many goals for electrifying its own fleet within the framework of its sustainability strategy. By 2030, Siemens plans to convert its entire fleet to carbon neutral by using fully electric vehicles. Committing to its climate goals, Siemens chose Volkswagen’s ID.4 due to its great combination of truck volume, charging speed, range, and price.

“Fleets of companies and public authorities provide significant leverage for the market ramp-up of e-mobility. Therefore, the electrification of vehicle fleets is also of central importance to us at Volkswagen Financial Services. We are observing that more and more fleet managers are also electrifying their service vehicles. This shows how suitable and practical electric mobility has become for everyday use,” said Armin Villinger, Chairman of the Management Board of Volkswagen Leasing GmbH.

The 2024 Volkswagen ID.4 features three different trim levels including Standard/Pro, S, and S Plus, buyers have the option of equipping the SUV with a 62 kWh or 82 kWh battery and the option of rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. When looking for the most range the 82 kWh battery focuses on a high-performance powertrain that offers more power and range compared to the previous model. The rear-wheel-drive model generates 282 horsepower, while the all-wheel-drive model pumps out 330 horsepower. This increase in power improves acceleration and is expected to increase range as well.

“The fleet customer business is of great importance to Volkswagen. That is why we are pleased to continue our long-standing and trusting cooperation with Siemens into the era of electromobility,” stressed Achim Schaible, Chairman and Spokesman of the Board of Management of Volkswagen Germany.

The 2024 ID.4 models are eligible for the full federal tax credit of up to $7,500. According to fueleconomy.gov, Volkswagen is currently the only foreign manufacturer to offer a battery electric vehicle eligible for the full federal tax credit.
