IQ.Drive Can Assist In Many Different Situations

When drivers are behind the wheel the main thought they are experiencing is focus, focusing on numerous different factors at once. Driving is more challenging than what many people consider. If we analyze the process thoroughly, drivers are responsible for focusing on what’s in front and behind them but also being prepared for the unexpected. The unexpected is just that, unexpected nobody can be 100% ready. Thanks to Volkswagen’s safety team, safety features like IQ.DRIVE can lend a hand in those frightening times, able to assist in the quickest time, and sometimes help prevent a situation from happening. IQ.DRIVE has seven different safety features including Lane Assist, Front Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Active Blind Spot Monitor, Rear Traffic Alert, Emergency Assist, and Travel Assist.
IQ.Drive is the advanced driver-assistance technology that Volkswagen has created to allow buyers to feel an extra sense of safety. Available on many 2021 Volkswagen vehicles, IQ.DRIVE consists of cameras, sensors, and sonars to measure the distance between vehicles. IQ. Drive takes it a step further in the driver-assistance technology world by offering Travel Assist, a semi-autonomous system that helps the vehicle stay centered in its lane, maintain a preset distance from the vehicle in front. The Travel Assist only works if the driver has both hands on the steering wheel so the system can sense human activity. Not using Travel Assist? IQ. Drive has drivers covered and is ready to intervene if it detects unintentional lane change while traveling above speeds of 37 mph.
All vehicles have blind spots, usually on the rear sides because they are out of the driver’s line of sight. Volkswagen has planned for these difficult situations, should a driver attempt to make a lane change while a vehicle is in their blindspot, IQ.DRIVE has the ability to alert and in some situations counter-steer to help avoid a crash. IQ.Drive helps monitor traffic flow to alert drivers to a potential rear-end collision with the vehicle in front. In an instance where the driver doesn’t fully react to the alert, the system steps in to increase brake pressure or automatically apply the brakes completely. Within system limits, IQ.Drive can also send a warning if there’s a pedestrian crossing in front of the vehicle to take the same preventive actions.
Many vehicle accidents happen while drivers are backing out of a narrow driveway or a parking lot, some obstacles like walls can prevent drivers from getting a clear view to assess the situation. While a Volkswagen vehicle is in reverse, IQ.DRIVE engages sensors that can alert drivers to vehicles crossing behind. Volkswagen’s main purpose is to create a safer ride for everyone on the streets. Volkswagen even made IQ.DRIVE to monitor steering wheel activity and can deliver a series of alerts if it detects the driver’s hands are not on the wheel or if it senses the driver not actively operating the vehicle. Volkswagen leads the autonation when it comes to creating safer vehicles for buyers to enjoy, while still focusing on moving into the electric world of zero-emissions.
