Elke Temme Announces Resignation From Volkswagen

Elke Temme announces her resignatong from position as leader of the charging and energy business unit with the brands Elli and electrify America Volkswagen for private reasons. Temme will return to the company on a part-time basis after three months and will work until the end of the year. Giovanni Palazzo, senior vice president of load and energy, will fill the position of Elke Temme as Electrify America’s new chairman of the board as of February 15, 2023. Geovanni is taking over the North American DC charging network and has served as president and CEO at Electrify America since 2018. 

“Elke Temme has made the load and energy services business an important pillar for the future of the Group. We regret her resignation, but support her decision with the deepest conviction. With Giovanni Palazzo, we have been able to gain a great expert who is recognized worldwide. Giovanni Palazzo has already been part of the management team in recent years and has made an important contribution to the development of the business field. He stands for expertise, continuity, and vision and we will continue to drive our strategy forward,” announced Thomas Schmall, Member of the Volkswagen Group Board of Technology and CEO of Volkswagen Group Components.

Long before joining Electrify America, Geovanni Palazzo spent seven years at Volkswagen Group as head of an electric mobility strategy, in this position Geovanni managed Volkswagen’s most important electric mobility activities worldwide. As part of Electrify America, Geovanni became President and CEO and has managed to build the largest public fast-charging network in the United States. Long before working for Volkswagen and Electrify America, Geovanni worked in various positions for several well-known car manufacturers working in the field of electric mobility and charging.Elke Temme has been working in the management of the commercial field of charging and energy since the beginning of 2021, in this area, Elke has managed to greatly expand the activities of the Volkswagen Group.

Long before Elke joined Volkswagen she worked at the energy company RWE/innogy, where she spent 18 years and held several important positions. One of the important positions was  managing to hold was as COO of innogy eMobility Solutions GmbH, this independent company was under the umbrella of innogy SE and was responsible for selling cloud-based software solutions and AC and DC charging hardware to B2B partners. Elke was born in Wolfsburg and in the course of her entire career she has managed to become a qualified bank clerk at the end of her studies and  managed to get a degree in international business administration.
