Volkswagen has announced that it’s fully electric 2021 ID.4 will receive an upgraded performance model. At the digital world premiere held at Berlin Tempelhof Airport, Volkswagen presented its first fully electric high-performance ID.4 GTX. The new product brand will change the view of what an electric vehicle should be, bringing a new intelligent sportiness to the world of electric mobility. The Volkswagen Id.4 GTX is the first model based on the modular electric drive matrix (MEB) to feature dual-motor all-wheel drive and also offers attractive, high-quality design elements. Volkswagen is moving into the electric segment at a high rate of speed keeping ahead of all other automakers. Now, let’s take a look at what buyers can expect with the all-new ID.4 GTX.
A New Era for Electric Vehicles
“Electric driving is simply great fun – and with the ID.4 GTX, we are adding a new dimension of sportiness and dynamics. The most emotional member of the ID. family to date shows that electric mobility and top sporty performance are not mutually exclusive.” explained Ralf Brandstätter, CEO of the Volkswagen Brand.
The Power Behind the ID.4 GTX
The All-New ID.4 GTX will feature an all-wheel-drive due to the additional front-mounted electric motor. The ID.4 GTX also continues with its rear axle permanent-magnet motor which creates 201-horsepower. Adding the front-mounted electric motor pushes the new ID.4 GTX to a 295 horsepower vehicle, but Volkswagen has yet to disclose any torque figures. The ID.4 GTX uses the same 77.0-kWh battery pack as the original Volkswagen ID.4, Volkswagen has claimed the ID.4 GTX will have a range of up to 298 miles. Regardless of how amazing the ID.4 GTX will be, Volkswagen has not confirmed the EV for the United States yet but promised an all-wheel-drive trim, whether or not it’s the GTX is left up to speculation.
“The full torque of the electric powertrain is immediately available and you can feel the excellent vehicle handling in every bend. What’s more, the innovative operating and safety concept is just as intelligent as the drive train! For example, the driver is supported by the unique augmented reality head-up display and comprehensive assist systems.” says Thomas Ulbrich, member of the Board of Management for Development
The ID.4 GTX Exterior and Interior
The 2021 ID.4 is a vehicle easily recognized by anyone who sets their eyes on one, So Volkswagen has made a few tweaks for the ID.4 GTX. Aesthetically, the GTX comes with a black roof, rear spoiler, and honeycomb daytime running lights. Inside the ID.4 GTX comes with a classy look with different ambient colors, and the upper section of the dashboard and leatherette inserts in the doors come in dark blue shade and red stitching.
