Volkswagen Employees Participate in the First “ International Health.Care.Run”
Volkswagen recently organized the first “ International Health.Care.Run”, involving 11 countries around the world. A total of 21 locations participated, the company vowed to make a donation for each mile run in which the proceeds would go to charity. The event had more than 500 employees take part in the plant in Bratislava, Slovakia. Volkswagen manufactures the latest vehicles both gas engines and fully-electric models. Currently the brand has released many vehicles part of its ID.Family, the next one to arrive is the 2025 ID. Buzz microbus. Fans across the world are currently waiting for the microbus to arrive in the first quarter of 2024.
“We have three difficult years behind us due to Covid – years in which it was virtually impossible to hold large-scale events. This is why we are delighted with the Health.Care.Run. format we can finally organize another shared sporting experience for our employees – one that will be held at all sites. The team organizing the event expects up to 20,000 people around the world to take part”. said Dr. Lars Nachbar, Head of Volkswagen Group Health Care and Occupational Safety.
The “ International Health.Care.Run” event finished at the end of June with the last run in Anchieta, Brazil where Volkswagen manufactured. The participants had the option of joining the 3,300-meter or the 5,800-meter lap. The employees had a unique chance to run through the plant, even the opportunity to pass their very own workstation. Volkswagen plans to continue to donate through various projects and events, since this particular event has a donation based on distance the brand was happy to see its participants choose to join the 5,800-meter lap. Moving forward Volkswagen is focused on creating a brighter and cleaner future.
“Sport connects people. Many employees also see it as a chance to unwind from work. This is one of the reasons why I have supported the idea of Health.Care.Run. right from the start. Not to mention that it’s also for a good cause!” added Vollmer, who himself will be taking part in the run at the Wolfsburg headquarters in mid-June. “I hope that many colleagues around the world will do the same and that we will collectively make a very substantial donation.” said the Volkswagen brand Board of Management member for Production Christian Vollmer
